A very disappointing experience

What should have been an exciting garden cabin purchase turned into months of stress and chasing a five-figure refund.

Despite visiting the premises, having visits to our home and paying a deposit followed by a payment for materials, everything that initially appeared legitimate fell apart.

Repeated promises, missed deadlines and changing explanations followed. It took months of chasing before finally receiving every penny back.

I’m relieved to have my money returned, but the experience has been awful. I would strongly advise anyone considering using this company to do thorough research before parting with their money.

I ordered and paid half of a cabin in August 2025 when they were Angus Log Cabins and was told 6-8wks for instal. I had every excuse under the sun why it was never being installed from the dog chewed through their internet cable so they hadn't got my messages chasing them, it was too cold, too windy, too wet, someone was ill etc. I feel I was one of the lucky ones as it FINALLY got put up in April 2026. They would just ignore messages or blatantly lie. Avoid at all costs.

Angus Timber Cabins, formerly known as Angus Log Cabins is a company I would strongly advise others to think twice about before doing business with.

In my opinion, this company has been an absolute cowboy outfit. The experience has left me extremely dissatisfied and I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, reliable and trustworthy service.

Changing the company name from Angus Log Cabins to Angus Timber Cabins doesn't change the importance of customers receiving the service and standards they expect and deserve.

Based on my experience, I would urge anyone considering using this company to do their homework, ask plenty of questions and think very carefully before handing over any money.

I would not use this company again and I would not recommend them.

Absolutely shocking "company" never reply to emails, but are more than happy to take your money. I would give them a zero star... but didnt have that option. Stay clear.

Poor communication after money was send. And when I say poor I mean radio silence.

Please Avoid tells nothing but lies from beginning to End demands money and waited months for shed. Would not recommend at all never answer emails or calls . I have spoken with others and said nothing good about this company Angus Timbers .

I placed an order with Angus Timber Cabins, Montrose, which I understand is operated by Scott Dickson, with Charlene Dickson also involved in running the business. Despite paying over £18,000, the cabin has not been supplied.
I have made repeated attempts to resolve this matter, but communication from Angus Timber Cabins has been very limited throughout, and they have failed to respond to my emails, messages and correspondence from my solicitor.
I have seen the Trustpilot review posted by Nick de Candole regarding his own separate but similar dealings with Angus Timber Cabins.
This review relates to my own experience. I have retained the invoices, payment records and correspondence supporting what I have described above.
As at 28 September 2026, I have not received the cabin and the matter remains unresolved.
I am posting this review so that prospective customers can take my experience into account before deciding whether to make any advance payments to this company.
For completeness, I have also identified previous companies connected with the same business operators, namely Angus Log Cabins Ltd and Angus Log Cabins (Scotland) Ltd, both of which are now dissolved.

Based on our experience, we would never use this company again. We chose a local company in good faith, but after our extremely poor experience we would strongly encourage anyone considering placing an order to look carefully at the independent customer reviews available and compare these with other companies offering similar products. We certainly will in future.

If you do decide to proceed, we would strongly recommend paying by credit card so that you have the additional consumer protection this can provide.

Two years on, our £18,000 overpayment still has not been returned.

We ordered two timber cabins from Angus Timber Cabins in July 2024 at a cost of £36,000. The company is run by Charlene Scott and acts as a middleman for a manufacturer in Eastern Europe.

On delivery: deposit paid 10 July 2024, cabins promised for the first week of September, actually arrived 15 October. We were chasing for updates the whole way through. Assembly took two skilled carpenters two and a half weeks and the instructions were poor. On the product itself, you get what you pay for.

The serious issue is the money. When we paid the final balance, our accounts team made an error and paid it twice, overpaying by £18,000. We told Charlene immediately. She said she couldn't access her bank accounts to confirm it, and that her accounts person was away on holiday for three weeks. Three weeks later she confirmed the overpayment. We have not had a penny of it back.

Legal letters have been ignored and we are now in proceedings. Our costs to date are £2,500, on top of the £18,000 still outstanding.

We are not the only ones. I have recently been contacted by another customer who tells me she is also £18,000 out of pocket with Angus Timber Cabins.

Also worth knowing: reviews for this organisation have been disabled on Google, reviews on Facebook are disabled, and the business now operates through a personal account. Readers can draw their own conclusions.

If you are considering ordering: do not pay 100% up front. They asked us for the full amount before delivery and we refused, paying a 50% deposit with the balance on delivery — and we are still £18,000 down. Next time I would use a UK company that manufactures and installs. They quoted around 30% more. I would pay it without hesitation.
