Awful, running in oil, unfriendly kitchen staff
Haven't been to the Angel for a long while and thought Hubby and I would see if it has got better. Unfortunately, it was awful. We ordered small plates, I had crispy chicken with chips and peas. The chicken was running in oil, so it was either cooked in oil not hot enough or really cheap oil. I took it back immediately, the chap behind the bar apologised and I asked for a refund. A couple of minutes later a man strode forcefully over to the wrong table to see what the problem was ,went off and then came back to me and insisted on me having another plate of the same food. I agreed only if was going to be different and edible.He was obviously a smoker and I rececived a full breath of stale cigarette breath. On arrival the chicken was the same , running in oil. I took it back to the bar and insisted this time on a refund . Another chap there apologised and issued a refund . We left and on leaving noticed 2 kitchen staff sitting on the stone floor outside the kitchen so not very hygienic. We won't be going back ,as shame because the building is interesting but the food was awful and not cheap either.
