A breath of fresh air
As a mother with children who have additional needs I found the idea of using a support agency quite daunting, my concern was that I would be potentially introducing a new carer to my children each time I needed some help which for us would be extremely unsettling. However when it comes to independent support workers and general life chaos, there are no ‘backup’ carers and I found that it wouldn’t hurt to at least look into.
I decided to look into All Care Plus knowing they were a provider with directors who have lived experience within the disability community. They know first hand what it’s like to have a loved one with additional needs and they also understand the complexities that go hand in hand when trying to find appropriate care for those loved ones.
I reached out to Jason from All Care Plus who almost immediately put me in contact with Zanet, the team client manager. From the end of the initial call with Zanet I already knew that we were in amazing hands. In the call we’d gone through what I was looking for in a carer, the hours I might need and of course a bit about myself and my family. A meet and greet was then organised where Zanet met with myself, my husband and my children and that just further solidified that we were with someone who genuinely cares for both their clients and their staff - within the disability sector this is as good as wining the lottery.
Zanet set up a further meet and greet with a few potential carers, the idea behind this being that my children could get to meet a few different people so that when the time came, they would have a carer they would already know. This also gave us the opportunity to get the feel of carers they may or may not gel with.
Every single carer that we met, was exactly the sort of person I had initially described to Zanet that I ultimately would have liked for my children. More than that, each carer knew all of my children’s history and all about my family in detail. The carers were all extremely qualified to handle the challenges within the scope of my children’s disabilities and also very eager to learn more about the children’s own individual needs.
Other than the exceptional care and level of communication the other thing that really stood out to me was the mutual respect and care between Zanet and her team members. Zanet could not speak highly enough of the carers she works with and in turn every single one of the carers has done nothing but sing Zanet’s praises. It is a breath of fresh air to see an organisation who truly work as a team and lift each other up and I feel truly grateful that I’ve been lucky enough to welcome a team like this into our care team.
I could not recommend Zanet, Jane, Tanya and Sam more highly and truly appreciate all the hard work that goes in to providing such a high level of care to my children, not just in my home and in the community but behind the scenes as well.
