Not as expected
I decided to try Alaskan King Crab Co. because the branding, presentation, and premium pricing gave me the impression I would be receiving a noticeably elevated king crab experience compared to standard retail products.
To be fair, the crab arrived properly packaged and in good condition. However, the overall quality and eating experience did not feel materially different from frozen king crab I have previously purchased from Costco and other warehouse retailers at a fraction of the price.
My disappointment was not that the crab was frozen — I understand commercially freezing seafood is standard industry practice. The issue for me was the expectation created by the company’s premium marketing and pricing. Based on the way the products are presented online, I expected a substantially higher level of quality, freshness, and exclusivity than what I personally experienced.
I contacted customer service respectfully to share my concerns. Their responses were professional, but they ultimately declined any refund, partial refund, or goodwill accommodation.
I’m sharing this review simply so future customers can make a more informed decision and understand that, in my personal experience, the product quality did not justify the very large premium over high-end warehouse retail king crab.
