Disappointing, and a let down

I recently bought some 'seersucker' pants from Afends (May 2026), and I have always been a fan and bought a few things from there years ago that i was happy with. I don't know about their full range but these pants are pretty terrible. They are 'flares' but after 15 mins of wearing them become very baggy! The only up-side is that the material is comfortable. They are not worth $120, and honestly like another comment I have seen on here I am left wondering how sustainable they are these days.

I was super disappointed to go back and see that they don't allow reviews on their website, so this wasn't something I missed in reviews it was a fault you can only figure out after you have worn them (no longer eligible for a refund).

I am in Australia, have yet to request a refund for the same style pants in another colour (which remain unopened and unworn).

Bad business practices - did not receive refund to my card.

Bad business practices! They just want your money. I ordered over $300 worth of items and returned two items. Before ordering, I read their returns policy because I didn’t want to pay for return shipping and found they offer free US returns and refunds, no issues. On them receiving my return they issued me a store credit for $266. I contacted customer service as I wanted a refund not store credit and they said it was too late. I asked where in the process did I request credit instead of refund? (Because I wouldn’t have done that knowingly!!) I didn’t receive a response. I’ve essentially lost that money because I do not like their clothes or sizing enough to spend another $300 with them. I think this is a very unethical business practice.

Don’t buy from them

Don’t buy from them. Just was told a package was delivered by USPS and their customer service told me it was when I reached out. They told me to ask USPS to then only have me dig further to see it’s in a completely different state.

Money grabbers

£20 for shipping that took over two weeks, and if you want to return your item it’s another £20 off your refund which they’ll only give you in store credit. Absolute rip-off, will never shop this brand again from anywhere, even other stockists.

I used to love Afends - past tense

I used to love Afends, I have some of their Tees from years ago and they are still in good condition, however the last few I have purchased have been terrible quality.
I have just returned a tee and its costs me $20 to return, where do they get off providing poor quality but charging exorbitant prices?! So disappointing. Companies like these should just shut down on the high rather then go bankrupt for cutting all the corners. You can't blame poor quality on the current economic climate, its just greed.

Lying staff and terrible management

To Afends Burleigh Manager Skye and the girl that lied
And Carly Brown and the owners.
In short my car was parked by the shops next to you. Skye told me a new girl forgot to put breaks on there big paper bin as next morning when arrived it was down near ally gutter.
I told her that last night the bin had rolled on my car and put a dent in it ( about $1000 to fix)
My son grabbed bin off and took photo ( camera in front on shop! )The breaks were NOT on bin, it was close to curb on uneven surface, very windy evening and no breaks
Staff ( that lyed and said she put breaks on but definitely did not) my son put one break one when he moved off my car which was why it still moved over night
Staff Put bin out at 5.30 my car was parked just after 6.00 ran in to pick up takeway only gone about 10 min
So they claim that in that about 1/2 hour time someone could have come and taken all 4 breaks off the bin ( yeah right) and in that 10 min time frame ( yeah right) someone must have pushed or bumped it on my car.
Considering what skye told me in person but later would not put in writhing you know as well as I do you what happened
Convenience for you the bin was not in front of your shop and you told me the shop next door are shut down and camera not working so no evidence
I can only hope Afends and all involved have the same thing happened to them. No concern or care I am fit with the bill that there poor bin protocol and procedures has caused me

Honestly worst customer service in the…

Honestly worst customer service in the Burleigh heads store.. the manager is so sour she could turn milk. Can’t be bothered to smile or say hello and when you ask a question acts like it’s a huge inconvenience. I don’t know her name but she has a brown bob how she’s in customer service is baffling….

Deceptive returns processes

I bought several items and had to return 1 due to incorrect sizing. When returning goods, they subtract shipping (fine) and then give you a voucher in AUD that does not correlate to the correct amount. I paid $99NZD for a skirt and got a gift card for $77AUD when I returned it (this is about $85NZD currently). It's sneaky and deceptive and is just stealing a few extra dollars from each customer. Do not order from them if you think there's any chance you'll need to return an item

Illegally and falsely advertising a…

Illegally and falsely advertising a discount in exchange for your email, then AFTER they have your email they demand your phone number in order to get promised discount. This is ILLEGAL by the FTC standards no matter how harmless it seems. Best to assume they will just scam you if they are willing to stoop to this behavior. There is ZERO reason for an apparel store to be collecting your phone number other than to SELL it.

Small sizing, smells bad

Shipping was fast. Sizing runs extremely small! Order XL because I wanted an oversized fit but received something that feels more like M. Item also had a strange rubber smell to it so it has had to go straight into the wash. I won’t be buying from them again in the future

Overall good experience, but sustainability questionable/possible greenwashing

Overall good experience. The shipping took some time but I live in Germany so that was to be expected. The first tracking link did not work. Costumer service replied quickly and was able to fix the problem. The dress at least on first feel looks nice and high quality. It does NOT run big like some of the review on the website suggest. It fits very true to size if anything it runs a bit small (I ordered the seersucker maxidress). For a company that sells itself as sustainable I think it would be great if they were a lot more transparent about their production. It is not clear from looking at the website, where and under what conditions the clothes are made. There are no certifications that show anything about worker wellfare. The materials are good, but again no outside/impartial certifications for anything. Things like that always scream greenwashing at me... I still bought from them so I guess I'm part of the problem

Horrible experience

Worst customer service, badly run sales, customer support gaslight you. They “oversold” on the sale even though I purchased 2 minutes after the sale began, 2 weeks later still no movement on auspost for the remaining item (that I didn’t even want)
Customer service basically told me it’s not their responsibility anymore… made up a sob story, really unprofessional. This was my first and last experience with them, wish I read these reviews first…

Brain dead company

I ordered two sale items from this company. They're a present for my son, but I was immediately told I'd ordered the wrong size. So I emailed their customer service team asking them to change the size, but they replied, saying it's company policy not to amend orders, and I could just return them. The items were to be sent from Australia to the UK (for a postage cost greater than the items). So I said just cancel the order, and they said sorry, company policy not to do that either. Three days later, they emailed me apologising for the delay in dispatching the items, to which I just replied saying "No worries, as you know, I don't want them anymore. Can you not just cancel them?". They replied, reminding me of their company policy to ship things from Australia to the UK when they know the customer will immediately return them and said the orders move too quickly through their warehouse to amend or cancel orders (this was 4 days after placing the order and emailing me to apologise for how long it's taken). It's literally hard to comprehend how people can be this stupid. I'm guessing the return will cost me about £20 and the original shipping cost £18 and the two items I bought were £15 each, so by the end of this all, I'll have spent more money or shipping than clothes and will still have nothing for my son.

I realise it was my mistake to order the wrong size in the first place, but why on earth is it company policy to just send it anyway?!?! And, on top of all of this, their website states that they're "committed to sustainable practises"... laughable.

Increased RRP in sale, sale price is actually more expensive!

Two weeks ago I was going to purchase the ASTA - Seersucker Maxi Dress, RRP was £69.00 but I saw AFENDS advertise their upcoming sale so I thought I’d wait.

I had an alert set for when the sale went live today to purchase, they have increased the original RRP to £102.50 with 20% off, so it’s £82.00. Absolutely disgusting business advertising it as a sale when it’s actually more expensive!!!

Pretty sure this only legal under certain conditions. A product has to be sold at a higher price for a minimum amount of time before retailers are allowed to then claim it's discounted from that higher price - which this was not.

AFENDS do better man.

Avoid at all costs

Shocking. Absolutely dreadful customer service and took 2 weeks to even acknowledge my returned item and only when I said I'd be disputing my payment via my bank. Emails either go completely unanswered or take almost a week to reply. I had no option in their returns process but to choose to sort my own returns label. Nowhere did it give the returns address. I only got it because I received an automated email 2 days later with tips on how to return items and even then it was missing the second half of the postcode so I had to Google it. They ask you to register your tracking on a platform called Refundid which wouldn't let me register because it requires a phone number but the only country code you can select is Australia. Just an absolutely shocking experience for how expensive the clothes are. Spend less money on Insta ads and more on some customer service staff!!
