I passed my driving test on the first attempt and all thanks to my amazing instructor, Ismail. He is very patient and always corrects even the smallest mistakes to help you improve.

What makes Ismail special is that he’s not just focused on getting you to pass the test he wants you to become a safe and confident driver for life. During every lesson, he never wastes a minute. He makes sure you understand exactly how and where to apply your driving skills in real situations.

He is also very knowledgeable and explains everything clearly. I always felt supported and comfortable during my lessons and I learned so much from him.

Ismail from 1Driving is an amazing instructor I couldn’t give thanks to him enough, I had my auto test in Isleworth yesterday and I passed on my first attempt thanks to him. He’s very knowledgeable with teaching step by step and every lesson he took me around all of the roads in Isleworth which could be potential test routes. Whenever I mentioned I was a bit unsure on certain subjects we would work over them again until I became more confident on them. Amazing teacher 100% recommend him if your looking for a kind and knowledgeable instructor👍

I’m so glad I found this driving school! I’ve previously had 2 instructors but none of them compared to Ismail. He’s patient, informative and made learning enjoyable. It definitely gave me a lot of confidence and I managed to pass my test the 2nd time. Thank you so much!

I want to first of all say a massive thanks to my super instructor ISMAIL. My learning to drive journey with 1driving.co.uk has been fun and rewarding at the same time. All thanks to my instructor Ismail who made me believed in myself when it comes to driving. He is so patient, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable about what he does. I will recommend 1driving.co.uk anytime and any day to anyone I come across. I passed my test yesterday and I am over the moon thank you Ismail and 1driving.co.uk.

Booked services of around 8-10 sessions & expedited test services. Will divide my review on the basis of different sections:

1) Professionalism & Governance [1]

Its run by a small family - nothing wrong with that IMO, but I felt they lacked a professional structure to enable it. A lot of things felt ad-hoc & its was difficult to understand who the SPOC was - I was rotated to different people for different aspects and currently have 4 different numbers of 4 individuals from the company. Roles seemed unclear & I felt that the capacity to deal with new clients is not enough to the resources they have. I think this generates confusion At the start, I was assigned to an instructor & we exchanged information, and my personal details. Few hours later, we all collectively found out he was the wrong person & my instructor is actually someone else. Similarly, I was communicated my test would be booked for a certain date and I managed my office / multiple other commitments as per the date. Turns out the date was "tentative". Amount of follow-ups / time to get responses was very high - and I felt the onus was on the customer drive this.

2) Expertise & Support by Teacher [3]:

The teacher had the knowledge expertise and was very supportive and kind. I can safely assume that he knew the finer details & had a strong knowledge base. Nice gentleman who I believe had the best intentions at heart. but perhaps limited with the equipment / approach he had. I have seen other instructors using check lists to ensure all gaps are covered etc because in the end we are all human. I felt I had to drive that conversation through my concerns (example - going on a mock test / following routes / asking for information on test / practicing specific techniques etc). Result: One of the things highlighted to me post the test by the examiner was something I had not been trained on at all (not saying that was the only reason I did not clear). Being more structured can definitely help them.

3) Resources & equipment [2]

Not sure what software they have to expedite the test dates, but their service is not particularly fast - case in point, been a month since my test and I have not even gotten a booking (follow-up myself almost every other day). Second, on the vehicles - maybe they need to upgrade their fleet; definitely easier to drive a newer vehicle. My expectations is based on the rates charged - Red Driving School has similar rates (maybe very slightly higher), but their vehicles are very new vs what 1Driving offers. Similarly, I felt there could have been more material / tools / teaching techniques that could have been employed (like step by step guides or something / reading material for self learning).

4) Value for money [2]

Rates are pretty similar with other driving schools At £40 pounds an hour. The additional costs of expedited tests is also similar. However, there is no discounts / promotions regardless of whether you pass or fail or how many sessions you buy. Almost all companies have bulk discounts etc which brings your hourly rate down to around 35-38 (depending on the company). If you choose to take their car to the test, you will need to pay an additional 200£ for car rental - alongside the cost of the instructor. I did not understand this at all.

In summary, would recommend you do your own research & assess what is most important to you - this is my experience, and my judgement - could be a one off for me. Good luck to you and to 1Driving.

Adil was a fantastic driving instructor and very accommodating of my schedule. We had a short time between my start date and test date and he prepared me really well in that time period. He has excellent tips, easily applied techniques that any new driver could pick up, and a focus on the routes most common to my test centre. I passed my very first test and I would credit that to Adil's patience and skill as an instructor.

As I had been driving in the US for 20 years, I decided to take an intensive 1 week course. Ismail was my assigned instructor - he was incredible. He prepared me for every scenario that I could be presented with. He made me aware of every detail that the examiner could look for or ask me to do. By the time my test came I was pretty nervous because we had only been practicing for a week, but Ismail had me so prepared that I passed my test with ease. I could not have done it without his help. Thank you!!
