I cannot list all the faults here, but to say that it's one of the most frustrating platforms I've ever used is an understatement!

Shocking UI in both the V1 and V2 backend sections. The amount of times I've had to consult the help or ask the staff is mind boggling... considering I've never had to ask anyone anything when using other platforms.

I would not recommend this platform to anyone.

Beware! Volusion has been losing saved product data since 2003 and they did nothing to address this deal killer issue. Your product data may be lost from some or from all fields and it may disappear right after being saved, or later. Imagine waking up to an empty store!

I signed up for a free trial because they were supposed to have some kind of doba app.The app isn't done so I never used the trial but I keep getting emails from them and a few days after registering a new domain name (not through them and without telling anyone) they found out that I registered a domain name and someone named Chuck at their e-commerce department sent me an email saying that he saw that I registered a new domain name and that it would be great for a Volusion site. Uhh...creepy much?Take me off your lists, stop stalking me

Absolutely disgusted with this company, a while ago I rang up to update my SSL from Volusion.... overpriced .. anyway having done this they took it upon themselves to change over my card details, this was a one off payment in my mind and never did I think the moron on the end of the phone would change the details to a card that was barely in use and wouldn’t have enough money in it to pay the next extortionate overage charges that Volusion happily deals out...
And hey presto a few days later my site is down...
This isn’t what annoyed me.. mistakes happen, even stupid ones, it was when I tried to contact these guys that I was told I couldn’t update my payment over the phone as nobody was there that was qualified to take card details....
My site has been down for nearly three days now and because this company has decided to take back all the U.K. staff to the us i've been unable to contact them....
I was sold this site with U.K. sales support now its changed its very clear that if something goes wrong you are basically screwed....

Avoid this company like the Black Death as it will eventually have the same effect on your company that it had on old London Town !!!
And we all know how that played out....
Rats carried that plague too...

I have used Volusion for a couple of years, I did a fair bit of research before transferring from my previous platform, so much looked good, it 'appears' to tick all the boxes, and I was really excited to move to them! However there is misleading pricing and the main gripe is the payments! Terrible! Last August so almost TEN MONTHS ago I found I was having an even more quiet than usual month (literally no at orders all) when a customer called and said they were unable to pay through my site despite trying 3 times!! It was an error with Volusions payment system yet I had not been notified?! I literally cannot believe nobody from volusion bothered to contact their customers when they knew they were having an issue with this!
I called Volusion and told I have to change all my payments to deferred to be able to get them. This means if someone purchases through my site using their credit card, I do not get any money unless I separately log into my sage pay account and 'release' the funds. I was told this was being dealt with as urgent, ten months later there is no change! I am being charged the rate of about £65 a month despite it not even doing a job that any site should! Plus the £20 payment gateway! Volusion say sagepay changed their software. Sage pay said this is utter nonsense and have had many volusion customers in the same boat! I absolutely did not sign up for, nor ever would have signed up for a site I had to do this. Total nightmare.
Also there are abandoned baskets literally every minute or so if I look in the back, then at Xmas when I actually got some business I then got charged extra for using bandwidth! I am extremely disappointed and the issue with the payment gateway makes me feel like I've actually been robbed to be honest! I have been paying for a service that has just not been provided! I'll be very lucky if the costs for this site have been even covered by the sales I've made through it. The basket is over complicated and faffy also.
I have just started an account with ekm,and they are fantastic! And at less than half of what this site was costing per month, hopefully I'll finally start making some money!

SCAM ALERT - Stay away from Volusion, it is a bait-and-switch company that's riddled with hidden fees! Basically everything on the Volusion website and everything the sales people tell you is inaccurate and intentionally misleading. Absolutely do NOT sign up for their Merchant Account - it looks like a feature of their monthly plan on their website, but it isn't! You're actually secretly signing up for a 3-YEAR contract that's at least $33.50 per month, with a $99 cancellation fee! The term length is not in the contract anywhere, it's on a separate page on their website that you will never find until you get the contract, which has a tiny link to the web page. Don't pay them for a website that looks like garbage to start with, and definitely stay away from any contracts with them, even if they make it sound like it's a feature included in your monthly service. They will intentionally mislead you and you will pay much more than you had expected. The sales reps know how to avoid giving direct answers, and their website is just as vague if not completely false.

I used to use Volusion...right now use Shopify...much better.

1. Volusion is the WORST!! Charge huge fees for bandwidth...Shopify doesn't
2. Volusion doesn't stay updated-if you need to switch template or change mobile template, you will need to re-do your website! HUGE

DISAPPOINTMENT. The mobile version template was really BAD BAD BAD!! We wanted to change to a better one and was told we need to pay $$$$

plus redo everything.

3. They charge $$$ for payments-It may be common industry practice but hey, there's a better option. Shopify doesn't charge us monthly

credit card processing fees. Volusion is tooo OLD!

4. Very difficult to close your account-you need to submit multiple tickets then call 3-4 different departments, plus they dont' give you

clear instruction as how to close your account with Volusion. you will end up with few more months billing.

5. Charge termination fees

In other words, VOLUSION can't keep their own clients, but blame the reason clients leave!!!

i was given mis information by the sales staff; i was told that the platform would operate in latin america. It turned out to be false information. i was unable to get a compatible payment system and i wasted £000s on their design service not to mention the terrible delays that resulted.

What made matters much worse was no one would take responsibility for the information or interested in trying to assist me in salvaging something from the mess.

I walked away and lost many thousands of pounds.

Simply terrible

Having been with Volusion since October 2014 I wish I had looked at reviews first and not listed to the pushy sales person, the sales person that took my call was telling me that its best to go for a non free template and also told me that its always best to go for the full top package as you get few extras and he told me that many customers then go down to the lower plan after I asked him if there were any hidden charges and he said no, He keep telling me that he will give me a special price if I paid the £99.99 upfront plus the other bits in the end I had to pay £222.22 upfront cost So I agreed to go ahead.

Having been with Volushion for the second month when my bill came in I asked them why my bill was so high and not the price I was giving per month by the sales person and your online plan they replied it’s the bandwidth this is what Volusion never tell you that every time you go on to your website behind the scenes to update anything you are using your bandwidth Every time a customer goes on to your website its also using your Bandwidth, Volushion do not tell you this as they want your money and business and to me this is just a bad way to do business I wish I had stayed with my other ecommerce where I paid a one month fee and that was it no hided charges at all. I wish I looked at reviews as other customers said the same WATCH YOUR BILLING.

This off the shelf package will make you look like a big business with all the fantastic features it has.

Drawbacks are minimal but can be overcome and it's better to use a deigner to do your site than do it yourself but can be done cheap on elance.
