Every time I have used Downlights Direct they have been very competitive and their sales and technical departments have been super helpful. In my experience they always go the extra mile. Would definitely recommend.

I ordered 14 downlights that were confirmed as in stock [16 showing online] on their website and in my written confirmed order. I paid an additional £9.99 for "Guaranteed Next Day Delivery" via DPD as the order was urgently needed. My bank cash payment was accepted, money taken and order confirmed by email.

Later, a company voicemail was left on my mobile phone saying there was a problem of being out of stock, which message I only saw on the next day. I called them promptly and their automated customer service system said all sales people were unavailable so I left a clear and polite message on their automated system. This was not responded to at all so several days later I called the company and spoke with three rising levels of staff, up to Director level, asking why (i) they advertised and confirmed out-of-stock [now stated as "discontinued line"] items, (ii) did not respond to my voicemail and (iii) held my cash [instead of immediately refunding it] when - as they said - they had "no suitable alternative product in the same price bracket"?

They refused to accept that they had failed in their customer service [at least three times, in my view - (i) failure to keep accurate stock records and confirm an order that they could not fulfil, (ii) failure to respond adequately to a dissatisfied customer, and (iii) by not immediately refunding my cash].

As a consequence, I was not able to get my lights fixed while my builder was in attendance and will have an additional substantial cost in getting a further contractor to deal with my lights subsequently.

The company appears to consider inaccurate stock records an acceptable risk for customers and they said to me that their detailed contractual terms - not prominently available to me before purchasing - said that an order was "not contracted until dispatch", despite them having taken my cash - which is odd to me, at least!

The company also thought it acceptable not to refund my cash immediately, even when they knew that they had no alternative product available in the same price range. In my view they should have refunded the cash as soon as they found that they did not have the stock. My cash was refunded promptly after the third conversation, but already too late in my view.

It is also unacceptable to me to reply with their single voicemail regarding the stock-out [an email and further attempt(s) to contact me should have been made as they had caused the problem] -and, worse, was not to respond at all to my subsequent voicemail.

I will not seek to buy from them ever again.

Great prices, good delivery and top customer service.
I had to increase the qty of my downlights from 6 to 8 after I had already paid and they were able to organise for me to pay for the additional 2 so I could get it in the same delivery.

I would thoroughly recommend Downlights Direct. When you phone a human being answers, when you message them they answer swiftly, and when they say they’re going to do something it’s done! Very reliable. I’m very pleased with my purchases. Thank you

I’ve ordered from this company on a next day delivery and no order has been received. No call, and no email or correspondence. Once I chased they advised they will send it and now nearly a month later nothing. Our project has been put on hold due to the terrible service from this company.

i used down lights direct for a few ip65 bathroom lights , and ended up buying a lot more becuse of the good price and service , i could not fault them

Purchased spotlights and a flood light on Tuesday, both clearly stated as “in stock”, however the order was not even dispatched until the following Monday morning.

Tried contacting customer services several times through the “live chat” feature and repeatedly got the message saying an agent would be with me shortly, but nobody ever connected. Replies only came hours or even days later, so the company clearly advertises a live chat service that doesn’t actually function properly.

Unfortunately I went with the cheapest option this time and this is exactly what I got — poor communication, delayed dispatch and very frustrating customer service. Would not use again.

In any business, things do occasionally go wrong - but how the business responds is what is important. We ordered some light switches that unfortunately had a manufacturing defect but Oliver in Internal Sales resolved the issue to our full satisfaction by working with the manufacturer to arranged for new switches to be sent to us.

I think companies really show their colours when solving problems and Downlights Direct did this brilliantly. Great Service. I made a mistake on my order and needed to cancel part of it. The refund was in my account overnight. With just one simple email. Very good communication. Loved that the ai responder acknowledged it was not human by saying - going to pass this onto my human colleague from here! Very good.

I had an issue with my original order (my fault) and needed some follow-up items as a result of my change of requirements. The DD team responded quickly to my follow-up request, clarified what I needed and were very flexible in providing the new items.

I would not recommend this company. I had to return my order due to the light being unsuitable for the room intended for. I paid postage for the return but didn’t hear anything for nearly 2 weeks. I telephoned the company to check they had received it and that I would like a full refund. I was told they would get back to me. They did the following day and told me I was unable to have a full refund due to item being scratched! I can 100% say the item was not scratched I only took it out of the box to see the design was to my liking and then I carefully placed it back in the box as I found it and took to the post office.
It took many attempts and perseverance for the company to finally agree to give me my full refund.

I ordered several rechargeable LEDs for wardrobes, cupboards and the like. They were Integral models and most of them were defective re: charging.

It took some time but Downlights Direct replaced them all. I would have opted for a different product if I purchased again but support was exceptional.

Great company, good products with lots of selection options and a great place to shop for any lighting project. Let down slightly but their website and stock availability, can be a little misleading when one product says "Available for next day delivery" but another might have no stock at all or low stock. I think it could be easily solved by a warning message in the basket. Additionally the AI chatbot was a bit frustrating at times.

Regardless, my lights look amazing and I'd definitely shop here again.

I was really struggling to find some LEDs that met my rather tight spec from a pre-existing outdoor installation. I had spent a few hours researching and called a number of lighting companies but was close to giving up. I called Downlights Direct, explained my need and after a few hours (TBH I had forgotten about the call) - Edward called me back with a product that did the job! I ordered them, arrived the next day (I paid for special delivery) and fitted all ok. I couldn't be happier with the service and will definitely be using again. Shout-out to Edward Partington!

All items were listed as ‘in stock’, then no communications for a week except the invoice. On enquiry, informed items were ‘on back order with the supplier’. Gonna miss my deadline. Not happy.

An absolutely amazing company.
Called directly a couple of times as I wasn't sure which downlights to order.
The sales rep ( sorry didn't get his nane) was very knowledgeable and took the time to discuss my requirements.
I ordered my downlights at 2pm on Thursday with standard delivery and to my amazement, they were delivered at 09.45am the next morning.
Extremely well packed and exactly as described. Very competitive price.

Be careful about the details of the products you are buying.
Downlights direct mis sell an LED light actually labelled LED bulkhead that if you check the smallprint this light hasn't actually got any LEDs in it to make any light, their response is "didn't you check the smallprint? You have to buy the LED lights to go inside the LED lights you have purchased" so now the LED lights are £20odd more than any other seller of these type lights. If I have to pay to return the 3 lights for a refund this review will downgraded to a 1 star.

I have bought twice soffit lights from this company and my experience has been really good.

The purchase process was easy and the information provided was very good and including all relevant details.

Delivery was quick and all items arrived in perfect condition, well wrapped.

I had an issue with one of the soffit lights a few weeks after installation and Oliver was really helpful. He sent a replacement unit as quick as possible. This is what I call an excellent customer service when something goes wrong.

I will highly recommend this company and I will use it in the future again.
