I've been using the photo hosting side of the service since 2016 as a paying customer.... As a very basic photo sharing site, it's alright. If you don't like the complexity & bandwidth hog that is Flickr, 23HQ is a good alternative. There have been minor hiccups along the way with uploading, but they were resolved by the admin. in a relatively timely manner.

The nuisance issues:
• Site-wide search function doesn't work
• Some of the features 1/2 work
• No active development taking place to at least fix features that should work & haven't in over 4yrs.

The BIG issue (in the last 3yrs. or so):
The site admin. is completely unresponsive when there are problems with the site and people reach out for help. Most recently they messed with reCaptcha and a lot of people are finding that they can't comment on photos free their free accts. Which, is annoying enough, but could be seen as an incentive to pay for the service.... What makes it a true nuisance is that posting in the help section on the site requires ALL acct. holders to verify they're not bots.... And, of course, with reCaptcha not working properly, no one can do that.... So, you reach out to the site admin. who can't be bothered to respond & you can't even reach out in the help section where someone else might have a solution because you can't get past the infuriating reCaptcha process.

I used to sing the praises of the site, but the more the site administration/ownership treat the people using the service like they couldn't care less when things don't work right, the less inclined I am to recommend the site to anyone. Actually, in the past year, I'd say I wouldn't recommend it at all.

If you want a simple site like this one with more caring & involved ownership, look to iPernity.... Just be prepared to pay through the nose.

Since the beginning of 2018 I have very bad experiences with uploading photo's to my account. On average I have to make 5 attempts before uploading a single photo is succeeded.
It does not matter whether I use the batch-uploader or the simpler-uploader. Uploading as an attachment to e-mail does not work at all.
Does 23hq getting out-of-date, is this the beginning of the end?
Suggestion: 23hq, take an example to Flickr !!!

Har brugt 23hq i et halvt års tid nu, til en opgave på arbejdet hvor det har været af kæmpe betydning, at de udvalgte abonnenter har kunne se de mange billeder, jeg har lagt ud. Men det kommer jeg aldrig til at gøre igen!
Jeg har stort set fra starten haft problemer med, at jeg ryger af. Efter at have været logget på i en halv til en hel time, får jeg besked om, at deres database skal opgraderes, og dette kan tage nogle timer - og ud ryger man. Og det er på intet tidspunkt lykkedes mig at komme på igen dén dag.
Jeg har prøvet fra forskellige computere og fra forskellige browsere, intet hjælper. Jeg har talt med vores egen it-mand, og han kan ikke se nogen fornuftig grund til, at jeg bliver smidt af. Det er ligesom min konto bare er en mandagsudgave.
Jeg har kontaktet deres support 4 gange (både via mail og pr. telefon), men ingen vender tilbage. Så derfor får denne hjemmeside ikke gode karakterer fra mig.

I have used this site for more than 5 years. It has many advantages such as free membership where you can upload 30 photos per month and there is no limit in total as many other photo websites have.
You can check photos from members around the world. You can comment on other members' photos even if you are not a member. You can subscribe to a member's photos both if you are a member or not.
There are made some statistics on your photos you have which is nice to follow.
If you choose a paid membership you can upload as many photos you want each month for a year and you can return to a free membership after that or continue with the paid membership.
If you experience spam comments on your photos you can delete them. The site catch many of the spam comments but not all.

However if you experience problems and mail to the staff they do not always reply your mails that is the only really bad thing!

Efter 4 års gratis brug ligger mine fotos hos 23hq.com der stadig. Siden fungerer hurtigt og er så vidt jeg har konstateret uden nedetid, jeg udsættes ikke for nag/spam mails uanset at jeg endnu er på den gratis del.

Metoden med at uploade og så sætte kommentarer på fungerer nemt og uden problemer - de sørger for skalering i deres ende, jeg kan koncentrere mig om at vælge fotos til upload og kommentering.
