I have been using paying too much for the last three years ,this year l encountered a blip and was unable to continue.I telephoned and was talked through the process by a very helpful lady assistant.l was very thankful for her patience to get me to the end of the process.

I took out a 10 day policy on line, the web site was user friendly, the end result whilst expensive was £85 cheaper than Stay Sure, so worth comparing prices.
Like all insurance policies will they pay out if required??.

I am a 66, year old pensioner. I had a windfall and decided it would be nice to take my family away for a Christmas holiday.

This is about a duplicate booking and the refusal to refund or transfer a £370 deposit.

I originally booked a family holiday at a property for 11th December to the 14th December and paid a £370 deposit.

After making the payment, the booking/payment screen continued to show the loading symbol for approximately 20 minutes. There was no clear confirmation that the booking had been successfully completed and I reasonbly believed that the transaction had not gone through.

As I did not want to lose the property, I subsequently made another booking for the same property for 4th December to the 7th December, again paying a £370 deposit but using a different card.

I have therefore paid £740 in deposits when my intention was to make one booking for a family holiday.

I contacted Holiday Cottages as soon as I realised that both deposits had been taken out. I explained the situation and asked whether the £370 deposit from the 11th December booking could be simply TRANSFERRED to the 4th December. This would have meant that I paid £740 towards the holiday AND WOULD HAVE AVOIDED THE NEED FOR A REFUND.

Holiday Cottages told me that the deposit had been taken out by HomeToGo and was nothing to do with them.

I could only contact Hometogo via an online form. Hometogo informed me that I had lost my deposit paid for the 11th December

I do not consider this to be a straightforward cancellation where I simply changed my mind or decided not to travel.
The second booking was made because the first booking process appeared not to have Completed successfully. I acted in good faith and took reasonable steps to secure the property for my family after being given no clear indication that the first transaction had successfully Completed

I am therefore asking Hometogo to reconsider this decision and resolve the matter by either :

1. Transferring the £370 deposit from the 11th December to the 4th December which I would fully approve of and asked for this initially.
2. Refunding the £370 deposit paid for the 11th December.

This is making me very upset. Hometogo are a big Company and it would be so easy for them to sort this out.
It makes you wonder who else they are treating like this.

Very simple process to purchase very reasonably priced travel insurance whilst having a number of pre-existing medical conditions.
