Me and a group of 14 have been every year the last 3 and had the best time, however this year was terrible and none of us will be going back, staff were ridiculously violent that I complained about to a senior manager onsite, the venue was massively oversold, despite putting over four grand on a table, none of the staff apart from our waiter were considerate.All and all, used to be our fave place and now was really unenjoyable, will not be returning.

6 adults 2 children…Food was very disappointing, lukewarm and below par - waited soo long between courses.
Definitely overpriced for what it was.
Didn’t query anything as it was a birthday treat.
Will not be returning to Ocean Beach

We had an impromptu visit to the ocean beach on Friday, wow what a great time, was treated by Danny, and he could not have been more helpful and welcoming.

We sat in the decking area, and it was glorious. Atmosphere was great and vibrant.

There was a good selection of food, catered for lots of food types. Our food was great, and I really enjoyed the risotto. My wife's linguine was really good as well. Finished with a good coffee . What more could you want. It was well priced, great service, great venue. Totally recommend it and I will be going back.

I’m writing to express my deep disappointment following an experience at your restaurant on Sunday, June 29th. I have been a loyal customer for years and have always considered your venue a special place in Southend, having celebrated my son's birthday there twice and frequently bringing friends and family for lunch or dinner whenever I'm in town.

Unfortunately, on this occasion, the staff member responsible for seating guests was extremely discourteous. I had brought two adult friends, my 4-year-old son, and my 1-year-old baby for dinner after a lovely day at the beach. I had been looking forward to sharing this cherished spot with them. However, when we arrived, the host told us he could not seat “four and a half people,” which we found quite dismissive and offensive. He repeated the remark seriously and offered us a table that would only be available in two hours. This left us confused and embarrassed, and we eventually decided to leave.

This is not the first time I’ve encountered a lack of courtesy from what seems to be the same individual. While most of your staff have always been welcoming, this particular employee’s attitude gives the impression that certain guests are unwelcome—perhaps based on whether they have children or other perceived biases.

As a fellow business owner, I know how important it is to treat every guest with respect. No employee should be allowed to make guests feel unwelcome or judged. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and look into this matter to ensure that all customers, regardless of who they are, feel valued and respected at your establishment.

We attended ocean beach a few days ago, we were a big party of 26 and we had pre booked vip corner booths that accommodated up to 30. We get that it is a big party and could be challenging, but It was just issue after issue. There was nothing VIP or remotely decent about the service we received here. Spent all day arguing with staff, 3 out of the 4 members of staff we spoke to were quite rude. For spending thousands of euros we weren’t treated well at all. Wasn’t a great experience and the staff didn’t make us feel welcome at all. Was a major let down.

Staff give false impressions clearly for the money making. Although some staff were very attentive other hospitality staff were very rude and inappropriate.

Good food and lovely views a nice place to go for a chat up with friends.

Staff are always really helpful, food is great. LOVE the halloumi ciabatta! Nice atmosphere & its also a great party venue. Just wish they stayed open later in the winter.

Buffalo Mozzarella Salad wasn’t made with Buffalo Mozzarella but with regular mozzarella, so it was completely the wrong texture, dry and tasteless.

The accompanying salad was even worse actually just mixed lettuce leaves, nothing else, and no accompanying dressing other than a drizzle of balsamic on the avocado. It was dry tasteless and utterly boring.
I smothered it in sachets of salad cream just to help me chow it down.
Wasn’t going to write a negative review but I emailed OB and they haven’t bothered to reply.
I didn’t challenge them during the dinner because we were having a special family lunch which an in-law was treating us to, so I didn’t want to make a fuss or detract from their pleasure in treating us all.

Attended Ocean Beach with my wife for a reunion yesterday where the whole space was booked.

Excellent food, great service, lovely views and location.

It was absolutely packed but the staff could not do enough for us, if I could leave 6/5 stars I would do.

I would thoroughly recommend Ocean Beach.

We had our wedding reception at Ocean beach in October and the service, food and staff were brilliant. The food was delicious and portions big. The staff were friendly and efficient. The venue was arranged as I requested and guests sat in the conservatory to eat and the dj and dance area was inside. This venue was perfect for our 50 guests and everyone enjoyed the whole experience. I highly recommend this venue. The whole day was stress free and that was down to the staff. From making our booking with Richie everything went smoothly and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for a wonderful day!

My favourite place to go. On my own, with my friends, with my family. From a quick cup of tea to breakfast or dinner. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and very good food. A must when at Southend seafront.
