Scam all the way around
Would charge extra for additional driver of the car, i.e. spouse who was traveling with me. Aggressively pushed the added insurance and lied about what my own insurance would cover. Received parking bill from third party parking scammer (Metropolis Parking) that I have had difficulty getting resolved even though I have proof of parking payments. Dollar charged my account for it. They told me it would be removed, yet here it is on my credit card. It will be disputed. Have spent hours with both companies and still charged.
BEWARE OF FAKE FUEL CHARGES
BEWARE - Fuel / gas scam. I took a picture of the dashboard electronic display where it shows how many miles are left until the tank is empty and it said 405. I filled up the gas tank right before I dropped the car off at the airport. I took a picture of how many miles it said were left until the tank is empty and it said 417. So I returned it with more gas than when I received it. They still charged me $100 for gas! Also, when I booked the rental at Booking.com, I said I wanted a compact car and I agreed to the rate. When I got to the rental counter to pick up the car, they said I rented the "manager's special," which just happened to be a huge truck which got only 10 mpg. How convenient. I don't like driving big trucks. The representative then proceeded to upsell me to a compact car for an extra $122!! I didn't rent the manager's special. I tried to show him my receipt but he kept insisting I was wrong. I will never rent from Dollar again. Totally shady and crooked thieves.

Apparently when it was paid with wife's CC the rental went in her name. They would not change the rental agreement and would not give me a refund. There isn't a phone number to talk with a person who can make decisions about refunds. I rent cars frequently for work and this is not a company I would recommend.

Dollar rental Car at Detroit Metro Airport
I rented a car from Dollar at Detroit Metro Airport for one full day. Before leaving the rental lot, I took a photo of the dashboard showing an estimated range of 360 miles. After driving about 300 miles and returning the car exactly 11 hours later, I refueled it completely and kept the receipt as proof. The dashboard then showed an estimated range of 549 miles. It appears the car may not have been provided with a completely full tank, which was very disappointing.
I was unable to reach customer service at the 1-800 number, and the Detroit Metro Airport office did not answer the phone. Once you have flown home, it feels like there is little you can do to resolve the issue.
Panama driver’s license denied
I am a Canadian citizen (with my passport with me) who is a resident of Panama. I reserved a rental car in advance of my visit to Dallas, but at the Hertz/Dollar office, I was denied my rental car because the data system of Hertz denied my Panama driver’s license I’ve never had this problem with any other rental car company during the past 5 years. I will never use Herrz or Dollar again.
Follow-up: I went to the nearest Enterprise Car Rental office, and the customer rep there easily and quickly helped me to rent a Toyota Corolla right then and there. Better yet, the Enterprise agent upgraded me to an Audi A3 for no additional cost.

Thank you for your reply, but this is not an acceptable explanation.
Relying on a single email that your system "confirms was delivered" is not enough. I did not receive that email, and the responsibility to reach me does not end with one automated message. Proper follow-up should have been made by phone or otherwise before treating my silence as agreement.
To be clear, implicit consent is not valid and does not constitute my consent. Nothing was renewed with my written approval, and without that approval there was no agreement to renew. You charged my card and took money without my permission.
I may well have had other arrangements in place. Instead of confirming with me, you proceeded in the way that was most convenient for you, with no regard for what worked for the client.
For the record, I have already emailed customer care and called the number provided. To date I have seen no cooperation, no remedy, and no action of any kind.
I expect this renewal to be cancelled and the amount charged to be refunded. Please confirm in writing how and when this will be resolved.

Front desk Agent she was nice at time of pick up. Rented the car for a week and within that week called a few times to see if we might be able to drop off early said no. We was rushed out of the car while dropping it off before time, we forgot items in the car. Another Agent told us the car would be back today, for us to get them instead of asking the customer to return. Which it had our key to are car in it. So went back and was told the car was impounded by the police. And told us they are not sure when or if we would get our items. So asked who's going to pay for a locksmith to come make another key? A company laptop from the trunk of the car and bag of clothes since we was rushed. Only answer was we do not know.

Agent offered automatic fill up on return. What she did not explaining was that they would charge$56 for a full tank ( @ $4.48/ GAL for 12.5 gal tank) . Local price $3.50. We used 1/4 tnk =$10.94 . Dollar ripped us off for the difference .. I called- no refund for unused fuel!! FILL YOUR OWN TANK-THEY WILL OFFER THIS CONVENIENCE TO STEAL FROM YOU !

I would NOT recommend booking with this company!! Due to last minute cancellations on our flight, I had to book a car through Dollar for the day we arrive, which was due to be in 24 hours. The option to pay was PayPal, which went through. However, once this was completed, I recieved an email stating that I need to update the payment method as it needs to be a credit card with the driver's name, not paypal. When I went to amend the booking, I was unable to, as the booking was in under 48h, and bookings cant be amended 48 hours before. I tried to explain what happened and they were not providing any possibility for me amend the booking and said I can either cancel and pay a cancellation fee or when collecting the car, need to pay a fee to amend the card used payment. PayPal should not have been a payment option if this is not accepted! Atrocious customer service and an awful money grabbing scheme.

I rented a car this weekend at the San Antonio airport. The customer service was absolutely the worst. Specifically, the man who processed the return never made eye contact and never said a word to me. He simply looked over the car and walked away. I found that to be extremely rude and incredibly impersonal. Most companies will follow up and ask about my experience. They never did, probably because they already know the likely answer from most customers

ACHTUNG BETRUG! Wir haben einen Mietwagen bei Dollar in Mallocra Airport gemietet. Die Mitarbeiter am Hertz- Schalter (läuft über Hertz) unorganisiert, viel mit sich selbst beschäftigt, sodass es ca. 1,5h gedauert hat bis wir unseren Mietwagen hatten. Das Fahrzeug war ringsherum zerbeult, zerkratzt, in einem unglaublichen äußerem Zustand. Hatten wir so noch nie- nicht mal in den USA wo es eh niemanden interessiert. Wir haben ausfühlich Videos und Fotos gefertigt, ebenfalls bei der Rückgabe. 1 Stunde nach Rückgabe kam prompt der Schadenbericht, mit Schäden, welche wir verursacht haben sollen. Höhe 793,52 Euro! Die Schäden sind bereits bei Übernahme auf dem Videomaterial erkennbar. Wir sind mit dem Fahrzeug nicht einmal irgendwo angeeckt. Wenn ich die anderen Erfahrungen lese, so ist das eine gewaltige Betrugsmaschinerie, welche selbst bei Versicherung ohne SB jede Menge Zeit und Ärger kostet. Reklamation eingereicht bei Check24, schauen wir mal. Wir werden dort nie wieder buchen.

Wir haben für eine Woche ein Fahrzeug bei Dollar am Flughafen Mallorca gemietet.
Das Auto haben wir in einwandfreiem Zustand zurückgegeben. Da die Rückgabe außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten erfolgte, war morgens um 5 Uhr kein Mitarbeiter vor Ort, der das Fahrzeug gemeinsam mit uns überprüfen konnte. Die Schlüssel sollten in einen Briefkasten eingeworfen werden – genau das haben wir getan.
Etwa eine Stunde später erhielten wir eine Rechnung über einen angeblichen Schaden in Höhe von 600 Euro. Von unserer Kaution wurden uns lediglich 100 Euro zurückerstattet.
Wir haben sofort eine E-Mail geschrieben und die Fotos geschickt, die wir hatten. Leider haben wir nur Bilder bei der Fahrzeugübernahme gemacht, nicht bei der Rückgabe. Trotzdem ist auf den Fotos des angeblichen Schadens zu erkennen, dass diese offenbar nicht zu unserem Fahrzeug gehören. Die Farbe des Außenspiegels stimmt nicht mit der Farbe des Fahrzeugs auf allen anderen Fotos überein.
Auf unsere E-Mails haben wir nie eine Antwort erhalten. Es gab keinerlei Möglichkeit, den angeblichen Schaden anzufechten oder den Sachverhalt zu klären. Die Kaution wurde einfach einbehalten.
Für uns war das eine sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung. Wir werden dort kein Fahrzeug mehr mieten.

We booked a car with Hertz Brescia for 3 days. Our original pickup was Friday at 12:30 PM. After realizing the office closes for lunch, we adjusted our plans and arrived at 1:35 PM. The office was locked. Nobody was there.We had to call the Italian support line at our own roaming expense. We were told staff wouldn't arrive for another hour. The location is isolated, so we had to drag our luggage through the summer heat to find shelter, food, and drinks. Hertz staff did absolutely nothing to help. We finally got the car at 2:40 PM. To make matters worse, it was the filthiest rental car I have ever received—the exterior was completely uncleaned.On Sunday, we arrived before 4:00 PM for the drop-off. Again, nobody was there. We had to call them again at our own expense.When we complained, we asked to be refunded for the 3rd day (37 CHF) due to the massive delays and terrible service. Hertz only offered a insulting 20 USD. This is not about the money; it is about basic customer respect and valuing people's time. Absolutely unacceptable service. Avoid this branch

Der Angestellte am Counter wollte uns noch weiß Gott was alles dazu verkaufen.
Es ging alles sehr lange.
Bis wir dann endlich unser Auto hatten, sind ca 2 Stunden vergangen.
So etwas haben wir noch nie gehabt.
