Mertum Jade DAC3 en Ambre

Wat een fantasische beleving de Jade DAC met DAC3 upgrade en Ambre streamer. Zeker in combinatie met een Buizenversterker.

Extremely happy with the product and the service

I have had very good experiences with Metrum Acoustics. If there is a problem or if you have a question, they will respond within a day. I purchased a new Metrum Jade from Metrum acoustics. The remote control did not function properly and was sent to Metrum. I had very good email contact with Roelof and I received the remote control repaired within a few days. Extremely fast service.

Paid for a Metrum Ambre on January 21st and it has been one full month and no advice from them as to when it will be shipped. Very slow to respond and when they do, still no ETA. I have no axe to grind with them and just want what I ordered but this is a very bad business to deal with. No respect for the customer despite all the great things I have heard in the past about their products. I don't know what kind of business they are running but my advice would be to avoid them. I have subsequently lodged a claim through Paypal for a full refund.

Update Feb 26, 2020: Interestingly I had a conversation with one of the audio shops in the Netherlands and this person warned me not to go near them. He said "They knew there was a technical problem with one of one of their major products and yet they kept on producing the product without first fixing the issue". I won't repeat what else this person said.

Bought a dac from Metrum with full return and 30 days trial period. Returned it and they received it on the 21.nov 2019. Still haven't received my money. They don't answer my mails or calls.

02-02-2020: PayPal just informed me, that Metrum haven't replied to the claim, so PayPal will return my money..

Good comms with the company via the Chat on Metrum's website and fast turn-around of my order (Metrum Flint). Equally fast delivery by DHL Express from Holland to France.

My initial impressions of the Flint product are very positive. This might be a 'Baby DAC' but there is nothing babyish about the sound ... clean, clear and sophisticated are the adjectives that spring to mind.

Purchased older DAC, Hex, and emailed support 3 times/questions. No response at all and was wanting details on latest USB option to purchase, still no response. Have sold the Metrum since it seems older products re. support are ignored.

First class customer service, my flint wasn’t working correctly when arrived, Metrum team guided me through trouble shooting the issues and now it is working beautifully, they also sent me extra screws and one extra power cord. A+++++ and will most likely to get more products from Metrum.

Bad return service.

I had bought a metrum flint, it had arrived defectively. They immediately sent another one. For the purchase they were very helpful and fast communication.

After 2 weeks I mail that the dac is not to my liking and that I wish to use my 14 day return period. I received instructions to return the dac. Upon arrival of the package mailed whether they had received it, arrived well. I assume that I will receive my paypal refund.
A week later emailed twice where my money remains, and get the reaction that the money will be refunded as soon as possible.
A week later emailed back if they can do the refund, no answer.
Then I started a paypal claim (2 weeks after return arrival), 15 minutes later the money was refunded !!! By the way, no apologies or anything else.

Conclusion: Very unpleasant return experience and long live the good service from Paypal

Very dissapointed, this is unacceptable, I really did not expect this from a company with a good reputation, really incredible.

Excellent products and first class service - I cannot rate Metrum highly enough - I have been so impressed I have become a repeat buyer and now have several Ambres for streaming around the house and at work. The sound quality is fantastic - especially through the i2s and AES connectors - and these are the perfect plug-and-play solution I have been looking for with Roon. The Baby Ambre is also very close to its big brother on the SPDIF connectors in terms of sound quality and is a real bargain for a smaller satellite or headamp system with a small footprint. The after sales service is also superb - I would happily award them 6 stars if I could!

I really enjoy the sound of my Adagio for over a year now. I haven't heard anything better yet.
One advice for future product improvement:
Put a power on off button on the remote.
I really miss this feature.

I have purchased Metrum Acoustics Pavane & Ambre. I am using i2s to connect them. Pavane is the best DAC I have ever owned.
I hope Metrum releases a headphone amplifier to complement pavane.

Dat is niet zomaar een dac. (Adagio)
Innovatief : volumeregeling door het aanpassen van de referentie spanning van de dac welke gerelateerd is aan het analoge niveau van een bit(s).
Dynamisch zonder te overdrijven en ook bijzonder aangenaam fijn dynamisch.
Rust en ruimte in het geluidsbeeld en een natuurlijk ritme/flow (foottapping).
De Adagio heeft echter de 4 weken inlooptijd echt nodig, niet om aan het geluid te wennen, maar om echt te “settelen” cq in te draaien.
Ben echt onder de indruk van deze dac, heb al vele “goede” dacs beluisterd, maar deze steekt er echt bovenuit.
Prachtige diepe bas, zonder boemachtige aanstellerigheid, fantastisch midden (articulatie – stemmen ) zonder teveel nadruk te leggen op niet ter zake doende details en een prachtig hoog welke krachtig is zonder te snerpen. Bediening en aansluitingen zijn ook top.

De Ambre is ook zo'n uitzonderlijk product, ik heb de I2S aansluiting met de Adagio en gebruik BNC voor de 432 EVO. Roon herkent deze Endnode onmiddellijk en is een fantastisch doorgeefluik (bitperfect) voor ROON.
