I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding the tuition fee offer I have received for my Master’s application.

Before submitting my application, I spoke with both Sian Witcombe and Matthew Linnell, who confirmed, both by email and during a telephone conversation, that I would be eligible for a 50% tuition fee discount, meaning the total course fee would be £4,750. During our phone conversation, Matthew specifically confirmed this amount.

I made the decision to apply based on these assurances and expected the offer to reflect what had been discussed. However, after all of my communications with both Sian and Matthew, I received an offer of £8,550, reduced from the full tuition fee of £9,500—a discount of only £950. This was completely different from the 50% discount that had been confirmed to me and was both unexpected and deeply disappointing.

It is extremely concerning that prospective students are provided with inaccurate information and then, when the discrepancy is raised, an explanation is offered instead of acknowledging that incorrect advice was given. This has significantly undermined my confidence in the admissions process.

What is even more disappointing is that I am an Arden University graduate, yet I have received a far less favourable offer than students I personally know who graduated from other universities. Family members, friends, and other students have received substantially larger discounts despite not having studied at Arden. I had expected Arden to value and support its own alumni, not place them at a disadvantage.

Furthermore, I have seen Facebook advertisements promoting the MBA programme for only 7000£ .This makes the situation even more confusing and raises serious concerns about the consistency and transparency of the information provided to prospective students. The fee advertised publicly, the fee I was personally promised before applying, and the offer I ultimately received are all significantly different.

I applied in good faith, relying on the information provided by Arden University representatives. Had I been given the correct information from the outset, I could have made an informed decision before investing my time and effort in the application process.

Ms Amreet is from the student support team and she has recently helped me to resolve some important issues very professionally and sincerely. I felt very happy and I had a big relief in my mind after settling this issue. Thanks to Ms Amreet to make my journey in Arden University very successful. I have been in this university since 2022 and I am always been assisted by the student support team very professionally and sincerely. Everyone in this student support team are performing their duties really well and they are a fantantic team! They are the best group of professional associates and I am confident that everyone who join Arden University will become successful because of the student support team!

Julie B at student services was just amazing at helping me with something I have spent a lifetime' just getting on with,' many times to the detriment in sutuations. She supported me, clarifying the situation and giving me the push I needed to ask for help. So far, all of my experiences with Arden have been supportive and open.

The support given today was very helpful and reassured me that I had not failed.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Arden University.

I have been helping someone with their application process as a former Arden student and former ambassador. During the application process, an email was received asking the applicant to complete the funding section. Unfortunately, the email was not clear. It did not explain that this step was simply to confirm how the course would be funded (for example, through Student Finance) rather than making a payment.

Because Student Finance was still being processed and the relevant forms were being completed, it was reasonably understood that this step needed to wait. This was an honest misunderstanding caused by unclear communication.

What made the situation far worse was a phone call from a member of the admissions team. Instead of simply explaining the misunderstanding, they stated that “the lady helping you doesn’t know what she’s doing,” referring to me.

I found this comment completely unnecessary and unprofessional. A simple explanation such as, “This isn’t asking you to pay; it’s only asking you to confirm your funding method,” would have resolved the situation immediately. Instead, blame was placed on someone who was simply trying to support the applicant through the process.

To make matters worse, when clarification was requested about which email was being referred to, the staff member could not provide the date it had been sent and only referred to the email subject, despite there being multiple emails within the same email thread. This made it unnecessarily difficult to identify the correct information.

I have no issue admitting when something has been misunderstood. However, I do expect staff representing a university to communicate professionally and respectfully. Applicants and those supporting them should be guided through the process, not criticised.

I hope Arden University reviews both the clarity of its funding communication and the standard of communication expected from staff when dealing with applicants and those supporting them.

Jack Wilson is very professional, he was above and beyond to help one of the student that was in distress.

Student Success Coach Dan at Leeds campus she been so helpful in my assignment, organising my timetable, helping me with my CV and applying for the job. She helped me to refer to Academic Skills tutor. She even go beyond and above to help me with IT skills. She has been my friend and I will miss her, I look forward to get someone like her.

Lea was very attentive to my concerns and was very reassuring.

She facilitated an extension and contacted my supervisors. She followed up and even arranged a plan B to ensure that I am fully supported.

I value Lea's sense of responsibility and duty of care towards the students.

I have a great experience with one to one coaching represented in Wendy as a success Coach. Wendy coaching helped me to stay focused on the assignment and study block.and give me motivation to thrive on my arden study.

I called student support mid Friday afternoon concerned about a submission query and didn’t think I’d get it resolved so promptly! Angela was ever so helpful and went above and beyond to assist me, my issue was resolved 30mins later! She even followed up with an email reassuring me in case I need to call back on Monday. Thank you so much student support team! Makes us distance learners feel not so overwhelmed!

Julie Binczik from student support was extremely helpful, its always a stressful time coming up to assignment hand in and I had an issue with IT logging on.
Julie was so support and kept me informed through email and sorted a 7 day extension to relieve any pressure whilst Arden resolved the IT issue. Fantastic support Thank you.
